Today I got news from Godrex that a kid hacked the forum, well congrats to you. It seems because I didn’t upgrade the board this kid found a security hole and hacked his way through it. I’m just surprised that someone is interested in hacking the board in the first place, I hardly visited it and didn’t know how much was going on there, but it seems enough to claim victory over hacking the soap… I’m just glad he didn’t say he hacked AGCN :D

Well the good news of this is that it brought me back from my winter sleep :) I don’t know how life will go on here on the soap, Godrex just made me a nice offer, and I think I will downsize the soap even more and stripp it down to a blog only page. In the meantime, I will keep playing with my iPhone (yes I own one)

I thought before I leave for 2 weeks I write down some thoughts on the Michael Bay show. To be honest I was really looking forward to this movie, the Trailer looked impressive and I thought that MAYBE he has finally made a good movie again. I mean the premise of the movie is destined to be a Bay action fest.

20 minutes into the movie I’ve realized Bay still sucks as a director. The Day before I was joking that once again the best scenes of a Bay movie are shown in the trailer and it’s no different with Transformers. But because I’ve seen the Trailer a few times, those scenes didn’t have the impact they had the first time.

But why actually is the movie with nonstop action a bad action film? Because Michael Bay doesn’t know anything about timing and storytelling and because Michael Bay thinks keeping the camera close and shake it a lot so that you have NO idea what’s really going on is cool.

Really, most of the time during action I had no idea what was going on and during the giant robot action, it was hard to make out who is who because the robots had TONS of small parts which made it hard to keep them apart in the action, plus some of them were downright annoying (like the one on Air Force One).

Notice that I haven’t talked about characters and plot because I know these things don’t matter to Bay so I didn’t focuse on them, but reading the The Abridged Script makes me realize how silly and stupid it is but that’s another story.

So in the end I can say I’m really disappointed because I was going in to have fun and I got bored and caught myself quite often shaking the head at the mess I was seeing. If you wanna see a fun action movie, go see Live Free or Die Hard again, now THAT was a fun ride.

2 o 3 weeks ago I stumbled in town here upon a logo which looked really similar to mine, I didn’t take it seriously and haven’t thought about it too much, in fact I found it a bit amusing. Now this week I saw the logo again and this time I noticed what the logo was for. The logo was attached to stands on wheels (like those hot dog stands in NYC but smaller) which 2 people in white working-suits rolled around through town. They talked to people about how to recycle their trash and not to throw the trash just on the floor but actually use the garbage cans.

So all this made me look at the logo a lot more careful and so I noticed a website address next to the logo and I checked it out at home and this is where all the thing came falling upon me.

The logo is for a group which calls itself “Interest Group for a clean Environment” now I don’t have anything against a group like this, in fact I support things like this but what pisses me off is that they’ve created pretty much what I’ve planned for my little thing here.

I mean Soap stands for clean or better yet cleaning, I’ve been talking about environment a lot in the last year and I’ve been complaining to all my friends about the littering of todays youth, especially on weekends when they are drunk. So I’ve had this idea of creating 12 different ads all about littering based on the The 12 Kinds of Ads. But now they’ve been faster than me. The company exists since May ‘07 and I’ve created my logo on May 27th.

Would this company or this group exist in a country far away from here I wouldn’t mind but they are from right here, I feel like if I contact them and talk about helping or co-helping, they accuse me of stealing their copyrighted logo and idea and everything.

So what’s to do now? I will be gone for 2 weeks (enjoying some free time with my girlfriend) and in those 2 weeks I will have time to go back to the drawing board and come up with maybe a new logo and a new concept of the whole page (if there was one now). I’m sad of course because I was happy with where I was going with the whole thing but I can’t keep on doing this when there’s a group which does the exact same thing I wanted to do with an almost identical looking logo right here in the same country and town.

Ok enough complaining, I’m off for 2 weeks, oh and if you wanna see what I’m talking about? Click here: IGSU - Interest Group for a clean Environment

So I bought myself some pencils and some markers and yesterday I started drawing a bit. After some shitty first tries I took the Drawing Dynamic Comics Book out of the bookshelf and there inside I saw this cool comic girl figure so I decided to draw this.

First with penicils to give it a rough look and later add more details, then I inked the final draft and scanned both drawings. I tried to add some shadows at the end but I failed there, I also left out the face because that for me is the hardest part, to add the right amount of details and draw very thin lines to get a good impression on the face.

But I’m happy with the first result, of course having a good tablet like the Cintic from Wacom would rule to be able to draw directly on the compter but I’m simple not good enough (yet?) to justify such a huge investment.

So now to the logo: the whole thing should represent a wave and like I previously already mentioned I was inspired by a brief shot of the latest Maroon5 video. I had tons of sketches in my little book of all kinds of cirles and soap shapes and what not when suddenly that brief second made me create this.

I really like it because the shape is easy and there are several ways of creating this logo, like with only 2 colors or 3 different colors.

I was surprised that the small detail which kept the flickr gallery from working on IE was a small tiny thing I always overlooked. Godrex though said that it switches back and fourth between working and not working but in my short testphase at work, where I refreshed the page several times, it worked the whole time through.

Well the flickr gallery comes sooner than expected, after working a bit today (cause of a running nose I took a day off from work) I made a lot more progress on the whole thing than I predicted. But before I can make it puplic I first need to test it some more on different browsers, especially IE6 and IE7.

In the meantime, I (for now) buried the idea of multiple designs for this place, like for example a graphic less version with white background. I just thought that for now I wanna stay with what I have and don’t make it all more complicated again (like I did a few times in the past). And I mean these days a faster internet connection is almost given so I don’t really care if for some people it takes a bit longer to load.

Sure it has some things missing like MMS support but all I wanna do is make calls and have a cool new iPod, but now it seems Apple might release a smaller iPhone which looks like the iPod Nano in the 4th quarter of 2007. The beauty of all this is that we in Switzerland have the advantage of sit back and relax and just see what’s coming our way when the iPhone will be released in europe als in the 4th quarter of 2007.

So for now I read as much as possible about the device so that when it (or they) finally get released here I know whats the best device for me with all the advantages.
