Transformers

I thought before I leave for 2 weeks I write down some thoughts on the Michael Bay show. To be honest I was really looking forward to this movie, the Trailer looked impressive and I thought that MAYBE he has finally made a good movie again. I mean the premise of the movie is destined to be a Bay action fest.

20 minutes into the movie I’ve realized Bay still sucks as a director. The Day before I was joking that once again the best scenes of a Bay movie are shown in the trailer and it’s no different with Transformers. But because I’ve seen the Trailer a few times, those scenes didn’t have the impact they had the first time.

But why actually is the movie with nonstop action a bad action film? Because Michael Bay doesn’t know anything about timing and storytelling and because Michael Bay thinks keeping the camera close and shake it a lot so that you have NO idea what’s really going on is cool.

Really, most of the time during action I had no idea what was going on and during the giant robot action, it was hard to make out who is who because the robots had TONS of small parts which made it hard to keep them apart in the action, plus some of them were downright annoying (like the one on Air Force One).

Notice that I haven’t talked about characters and plot because I know these things don’t matter to Bay so I didn’t focuse on them, but reading the The Abridged Script makes me realize how silly and stupid it is but that’s another story.

So in the end I can say I’m really disappointed because I was going in to have fun and I got bored and caught myself quite often shaking the head at the mess I was seeing. If you wanna see a fun action movie, go see Live Free or Die Hard again, now THAT was a fun ride.
